Frequently Asked (or Should-Be-Asked) Questions   

When will my new gear ship?
Great question! Unlike many online retailers, if you buy a regulator, we won't ship you an untuned regulator in its box. All equipment is tested, walked across a service bench, and given the white glove treatment before we'll send it to you. So if you order a regulator or BCD system, please plan on a 48 hour delay before we ship so that we can test and tune it perfectly. You wouldn't buy a car without air in the tires, so why buy un-tuned gear?
  

If you are in a rush, let us know during checkout, and we'll do our best to test it and get it out faster.  

Orders ship from Washington, DC Monday-Friday via UPS. Since our UPS guy grooves to the beat of his own drum we can't offer one of those "order by ___ and we'll ship today" policies, but we'll turn it around asap, and thats the promise we've built our reputation on. 

How long will it take to get here?
Another great question. The only thing worse than a wet-wetsuit is having to wait for your gear to arrive! Once your new stuff has shipped it should arrive pretty quick, depending on your UPS zone. For a rough idea, check out this super spiffy map:
 

 

How Does the Halcyon Free Shipping Promo Work?
Super easy. Our free shipping promo is on all Halcyon products within the lower 48 states. If you place an order for a Halcyon product but live outside the bottom 48, we'll email you with a shipping quote via UPS before charging your card. Due to the nature of the free shipping promo, if you opt to return a product, we'll completely refund the product minus the shipping charge to you. Free shipping is via UPS Ground and requires a $50 minimum purchase. Tech Diver Direct reserves the right to modify, cancel or otherwise alter this promotion without advanced notice.

It doesn't fit, it's the wrong color, it's just not perfect!
No problem. We'll gladly accept returns or exchanges on unused or unopened gear. If it's been wet, it is yours, so try it out before you dive in! Just send it back with your invoice and let us know what wasn't perfect, and we'll take care of the rest. If you ordered something using one of our free shipping promos, please note that we'll provide a full refund minus the shipping costs. Some exclusions apply, such as rebreathers and tanks. If you are unsure, feel free to contact us first.
 

Is my purchase covered under warranty?
Yes! We are an authorized dealer for all of the brands we sell, so all of your products come with the factory warranty. Most regulators have a lifetime parts warranty. Remember, we also do mail order service, so you can send your stuff back for service and keep it up to date on its shots, er, parts.

Do I have to be certified to buy equipment?
Seriously if you aren't certified and want to buy a regulator, have a blast, not sure what you'll do with it.... All jokes aside, we'd prefer customers were certified divers, or if you are buying a gift, that it is for a certified diver. Remember that scuba diving is a dangerous activity, and while diving you are in your own care, custody and control. Divers wishing to purchase a rebreather will need to complete the required paperwork for that unit and provide proof of certification or the contact information for their instructor.

I've never heard of Tech Diver Direct, is this legit?
Absolutely! You've probably never heard of us because we've taken on a new identity (please don't steal it, we like it) for the internet. Our brick and mortar store is Virginia Scuba, based out of Manassas, VA. We are one and the same. Why does my Credit Card bill say "Virginia Scuba"?
Tech Diver Direct's brick and mortar location is Virginia Scuba, Inc. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Virginia Scuba, Inc. Your credit card bill is correct. It was a test to see if you were paying attention and you passed!
 

Who is this Mark guy and why do I care about his monthly special?
Mark is the owner- he'll put up this front like he's some big tough guy, but really he's really not. Since he is such a nice guy, he wants everyone to have a great find, so every month we offer a monthly steal-of-a-deal. It might not always change on the 1st of the month- Mark is a sneaky guy, but there will be something new every month that you won't want to miss!

Can I take dive training or travel with Tech Diver Direct?

Do I have to pay sales tax?
We only collect sales tax if you live in Virginia, in which case you might as well come visit us yourself!

Is my credit card safe?
The geek in the back room assures us that the credit cards are safe, and our website is secured using Starfield Technology SSL certificates. Tech Diver Direct will NEVER sell your information to telemarketing people either - it's mean and we don't want you to sell our info to them either!
 

Are all products new?
Unless noted otherwise, everything on this site is sold new.

What if it's not in stock?
While we have many of these products in stock and ready to ship, some things might require a special order, in which case we'll call to let you know. You can always give us a call and find out the inventory status of anything.

Can I talk to a human?
Our dive guru's are here to help, please give us a call if you have any questions. We'd be happy to offer advice regarding what gear would best suit your needs, or just to chit-chat.
